Fair Share for Aged Care

All the Way for Equal Pay

SFWU and NZNO are jointly running an exciting new campaign to win equal pay for caregivers. It's called All The Way For Equal Pay. Follow the link to find out more and how you can get involved.

Fair Share for Aged Care

Fair Share for Aged Care is an exciting campaign run jointly by the Service and Food Workers Union: Nga Ringa Tota and the New Zealand Nurses Organisation. SFWU and NZNO have been campaigning for a Fair Share for Aged Care for a number of years. It's a campaign to win fair pay and decent conditions in aged care through collective bargaining and to win increased government funding for the aged care sector.

We are campaigning for increased funding targeted to:

  • Fairpay for caregivers, nurses and support workers in aged care
  • Safe staffing levels
  • More training opportunties and recognition of training in improved pay

Human Rights Commission Summit

A delegation of SFWU, NZNO and PSA members attended a Human Rights Commission summit on the aged care workforce on 3 October 2012.

Who cares?

A charter for care, launched by the SFWU and Nurses Union (NZNO) asked Kiwis to stand up and support a better deal for older New Zealanders. The charter asked citizens to sign up “Because I care” call for safe staffing levels, fair pay , nationally recognised qualifications and a guarantee that government money won’t go into private pockets! 11,000 New Zealanders signed the charter.
